In October, Vanke Meisha Academy successfully held an overseas university fair, attracting admissions officers from over 70 top global universities. This event provided VMA students, who are preparing for college applications, a valuable opportunity to meet and interact face-to-face with admissions officers from their dream schools.
In terms of academic support and exchange, this year VMA has introduced the CEM assessment for its UK track. The teaching team is deeply involved in this initiative, utilizing CEM’s standardized assessment and data support to offer personalized, comprehensive, and multi-faceted evaluations of students' knowledge and skills.
The arrival of Dr. Bill Hudson, Head of School at MPA, VMA’s overseas partner institutions, brought new perspectives on international education to the VMA community. In an educational seminar for parents, the development of international high schools in the age of AI became a hotly discussed topic.
Beyond the classroom, VMA emphasizes social practice and public service, encouraging students to broaden their perspectives through action and reflection. VMA students have not only gained insights into historical changes during visits to the ZhongYing Street History Museum but have also served as compassionate young teachers in English language volunteer classes.

万科梅沙书院2024年秋季海外大学展于10月22日顺利落幕。本次展会受到了众多高校、学生和家长的关注,成为了海外大学与家长沟通的重要桥梁,也为学生提供了宝贵的择校信息和指导。
此次展会吸引了来自不同国家和地区的七十多所知名高校,涵盖了综合类大学、文理学院和艺术院校等多种选择,确保每位学生和家长都能找到适合自己的院校和方向。在展会期间,学生志愿者们与各校招生官默契配合,不仅在各展位提供了详细的院校信息和申请要求,还通过一对一解答,让学生和家长有机会深入了解每所大学的特色和优势。
此外,各高校的招生官还举办了丰富多元的升学讲座,内容涵盖了不同地区的校园生活、留学趋势和职业发展方向,帮助学生和家长全面掌握留学信息和选择方向。展会不仅加深了学生家长对国际教育体系的认识,也让大家对未来的升学道路有了更加清晰的规划。

The 2024 Fall Overseas University Fair at Vanke Meisha Academy concluded successfully on October 22. The event attracted significant attention from overseas universities, students, and parents, serving as an essential bridge for communication, while providing valuable university application information and guidance for students.
The fair featured over seventy well-known universities from various countries and regions, covering comprehensive universities, liberal arts colleges, and art institutions, ensuring that each student and parent could find a suitable university and major. During the fair, student volunteers worked closely with university admissions officers, providing detailed information on schools and application requirements at each booth. Through one-on-one consultations, students and parents had the opportunity to gain in-depth insights into the unique features and strengths of each university.
In addition, admissions officers from various universities held diverse seminars on topics such as campus life in different regions, trends of studying abroad, and career development paths, helping students and parents comprehensively understand information about overseas learning and make informed choices. The fair not only deepened students’ and parents' understanding of the international education system but also provided a clearer plan for future educational paths.

10月31日,书院学术院长Dr.Andri Nel-Rasmussen、学术事务主任夏远志,英系科组长李雷,学术事务部专员张一雄参与了剑桥CEM于深圳举办的线下工作坊,工作坊围绕主题“以数据为依据的教与学”(Data-informed Teaching & Learning),向剑桥学校校长、学术主管、学科负责人等介绍了CEM基线测评,以及基线测评如何将数据转化为洞察。
今年,万科梅沙书院中英融合课程启动使用CEM基线测评,借助由CEM打造的标准化的基线测评与数据支持,可以个性化、全方位、多角度地评估学生的知识水平及能力,帮助教师制定出切实可行又能调动学生积极性的学习目标。

On October 31, Dr. Andri Nel-Rasmussen , the Academic Dean of VMA; Yuan Xia, Director of Academic Affairs; Li Lei, Head of English Curriculum; and Zhang Yixiong, Academic Affairs Specialist, attended an in-person workshop held by Cambridge CEM in Shenzhen. The workshop, centered on the theme “Data-informed Teaching & Learning,” introduced principals, academic directors, and subject leaders from Cambridge schools to the CEM assessment and demonstrated how assessment data can be transformed into actionable insights.
This year, VMA launched the use of the CEM assessment in its UK track. With the standardized assessments and data support developed by CEM, VMA is able to assess students' knowledge levels and abilities in a personalized, comprehensive, and multi-dimensional way. This data helps teachers set practical and motivating learning goals that engage students actively in their learning journey.

10月29日下午, 万科梅沙书院团委和环保公益社前往深圳中英街历史博物馆参访。中英街历史博馆馆内现收藏有400余件近现代历史文物、民俗文物以及千余幅珍贵的历史照片资料。在讲解员的带领下,梅沙师生重温了中英街从鸦片战争到改革开放的历史脉络,漫步四个展厅,感受中国从半殖民地半封建社会走向独立自主、富强民主的艰辛历程,增加历史自觉和民族自豪感。
书院重视社会实践,鼓励学生走出课堂、接触真实世界。通过多样化的实践项目,学生们可以在知行结合中丰富视野,逐步形成独立思考与责任意识。

On the afternoon of October 29, the Youth League Committee and Environmental Volunteer Society of Vanke Meisha Academy visited the Zhongying Street Historical Museum in Shenzhen. The museum houses over 400 pieces of modern historical artifacts, folk items, and more than 1,000 valuable historical photographs. Guided by a museum lecturer, VMA students and teachers revisited the historical timeline of Zhongying Street, from the Opium War to the Reform and Opening-Up period. They explored four exhibition halls, experiencing the arduous journey of China transitioning from a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society to an independent, prosperous, and democratic nation, which enhanced their historical consciousness and national pride.
VMA places great importance on social practice, encouraging students to step outside the classroom and engage with the real world. Through diverse practical projects, students can enrich their perspectives and gradually develop independent thinking and a sense of responsibility.

On the afternoon of October 26, the Principal's Face-to-Face Session and MPA Educational Sharing Session with the American partner school was held as scheduled at the Raffles Hotel. Principals from Vanke Meisha Academy (VMA) and Mounds Park Academy (MPA), along with Dean Jordan, engaged in discussions with nearly 30 parent representatives on topics such as the development of international high school education in the age of AI, how to support students in becoming their best selves for entry into top overseas universities, and key focus areas for high school students' development in different countries and regions.

图学联公益英语课堂
LSA Public Service English Class

由社团“图学联”组织举办的新一期英语公益课堂已陆续开展,为大梅沙的青少年家庭提供英语公益课堂活动。学生志愿者认真备课,采取游戏、情景剧、对话等多种形式教学,为学员们带来了生动有趣、内容丰富的英语学习体验,学生也被大家称为"公益小教师,爱心小天使"。图学联目前社员30人,公益英语课堂活动已经持续上课近3年。新一期活动共有40余组家庭线上报名,每周三的下午到大梅沙社区开展,课堂按1-4年级分小组,每名老师负责辅导两名同学,确保教学效果。

The latest round of the Club-organized English Public Service Class has begun, providing free English lessons to young families in Dameisha. Student volunteers meticulously prepare lessons, using diverse teaching methods such as games, skits, and dialogues to create an engaging and enriching English learning experience for participants. These students have earned the affectionate titles of “Public Service Young Teachers” and “Caring Little Angels.” Currently, LSA has 30 members, and the public service English classes have been running for nearly three years. This new session received over 40 online registrations from families. Held every Wednesday afternoon in the Dameisha community, classes are organized by grade level (1st to 4th grade), with each volunteer teacher responsible for tutoring two students to ensure effective learning outcomes.

The Peer Tutoring Program is an academic tutoring program initiated by Prefect, aimed at helping students resolve academic issues through personalized one-on-one peer support. This academic year, there are 48 outstanding peer tutors who are passionate about their subjects and eager to share their knowledge and experiences. We look forward to this tutoring program fostering a collaborative learning environment where students can learn and progress together, while benefiting from mutual teaching and experiencing the joy of growth.

10月26日上午,万科梅沙书院举办了本学年首场大型开放日,500余位正处择校期的学生与家长从全国各地前来,感受山海最美校园的魅力。此次开放日新增开场表演环节,校长窦连辉先生以多位学子的经历为例,深入诠释书院的教育理念与育人体系。随后各板块负责人从不同维度出发,引领访客们解锁精彩的梅沙故事。此次开放日还安排了体验课英语、数学、物理、地理、STEAM、表演艺术、视觉艺术等多门体验课。本次活动有40余名志愿者及8位家长志愿者参与协助,向到访家长展示了梅沙社区专业及热情的良好风貌。

This school year, to further create English learning environments, enhance the adaptation of lower-grade students, and strengthen teacher-student interaction, VMA implemented and continuously optimized the daily homeroom meeting program starting from the first week of school. Under the guidance of Dean Jordon, 17 mentors and 10 Home-room teachers (all conducting classes and activities in English) collaborated effectively to establish a complete structure and weekly topics. The 10 Home-room teachers will develop and rotate the morning meeting curriculum based on specific topics each week.
