6th Foundation Day

6th Foundation Day

Annie Weisman的独角戏《Be Aggressive》、Henrik Ibsen的《An Enemy of The People》、音乐剧选段《In My Dreams》更是带来了不同风格的戏剧体验,展现了国王学子在舞台上的自信和实力。

6th Foundation Day

Six years, like a gentle stream, have silently flowed through the crevices of time, with every droplet accumulating into the splendour of King's today. Six years of relentless progress, each footprint carries countless precious memories. Today, The King’s School Shenzhen celebrates its sixth foundation day. Let us join hands on this fertile ground of hope to embark on a new chapter!

6th Foundation Day Ceremony of K

Six and counting

6th Foundation Day

As the celebration commenced, four mighty lions were awakened by the tip of a brush, their eyes twinkling to life in an instant, radiating vitality and vigour.

Amid the beat of gongs and drums, the four lions leaped into the air and landed steadily. One of the lions stepped onto the plum blossom stumps, bouncing back and forth between them as if testing its agility and strength. Another began the ritual of “Caiqing”, climbing step by step to the high platform to pick the vegetables symbolizing good fortune and a bountiful harvest.

With their heads held high and roaring with vigour, the four lions embody courage, strength, and hope. In the new year, KSS will also stride forward like these awakened lions, continuously ascending to new heights!

The future of King's students

is promising

6th Foundation Day

The ceremony began with Principal John Wright taking the stage in the Cambridge University academic gown, a symbol of scholarly distinction. This gown embodies not just academic honour but also a profound sense of responsibility and commitment—our dedication to unlocking the fullest potential of every King's student, supporting them wholeheartedly on their journey of growth, and ultimately seeing them shine in the higher education institutions that best suit them.

The Confucian Six Arts—rites, music, archery, charioteering, calligraphy, and mathematics—were important criteria for measuring a person's talents. At King's School, students are brimming with talent, mastering a variety of skills such as musical instrument performance, dance, poetry recitation, stage plays, and choral singing. With their brilliant artistic expressions, they not only showcase their personal flair but also highlight the rich educational achievements of the school.

Students from grades1 to 3 recited the poem "When the teacher isn't looking", depicting how they should behave when out of sight. The junior choir welcomed every guest with the song "Welcome to wonderland", inviting them into our campus filled with miracles and dreams through their melodious voices.

The junior ensemble performed the classic English ballad "Greensleeves", breathing new vitality and life into this ancient melody. Students from grades 4 to 7 presented an original poem titled "Foundation Day", offering a unique and heartfelt tribute to the school's birthday.

Senior students’ performance truly showcased their professional ability and versatile talents. A student who have completed all piano grades offered a high-level performance of challenging pieces. The grade 8 student band performed "Sweet Dreams", originally by the Eurythmics. Composed of guitars, bass, piano, xylophone, and drums, the band, coupled with a unique dramatic performance, perfectly interpreted the theme of students' dreams.

The high school CCA band made a dynamic entrance with the vibrant Latin jazz classic "Oye ComoVa". The students skillfully played a variety of instruments including the clarinet, piano, keyboard, drum set, güiro, African drums, bongo drums, cowbells, marimba, xylophone, guitar, and bass, bringing the rich rhythms of Latin music to life.

Annie Weisman's Monologue “Be Aggressive”, Henrik Ibsen's "An Enemy of The People", and the musical selection "In My Dreams" brought a variety of theatrical experiences, showcasing the confidence and prowess of King's students on stage.

It is particularly worth mentioning that the senior choir, personally directed by Principal John Wright, performed the classic piece "Mo Li Hua". The students reinterpreted this traditional Chinese melody with a unique arrangement, blending Chinese cultural heritage with modern musical notes, which won the enthusiastic applause of the audience.

Head students and prefects

announced

6th Foundation Day

Students are the heart of the school and the creators of campus culture; their growth and development are the best testament to the school's educational achievements. On the sixth foundation day ceremony, we proudly announced the heads of houses, head students and prefects, and the new student council members.

We hope that every King's student will excel among their peers in six dimensions: academic achievement, artistic expression, leadership skills, physical and mental well-being, social skills, and personal growth.

We encourage every King's student to set a commendable model in six orientations: personal conduct, verbal expression, depth of thought, emotional intelligence, determination of will, and habit formation.

We also look forward to every King's student becoming a role model for others in six aspects: moral integrity, intellectual cultivation, courage, compassion, honesty, and self-discipline.

Over the past six years, The King’s School Shenzhen has steadily progressed on the path of international education, artistic development, and educational excellence, with every teacher and student pouring in their efforts and reaping growth here. As the sixth foundation day ceremony ends, the passion of youth and the vitality of the campus will continue to flourish. Six years together, everything goes smoothly. In the years to come, let us move forward hand in hand, bravely heading towards an even brighter future!
