G7 Science

G7 科学课 



G7 Science students have been learning about separating mixtures to create pure substances, such as filtering, evaporation and distillation. In this lesson, students distill cola to separate the water. Earlier work on distillation involved researching, identifying information, paraphrasing and citing sources. Next week they will combine their knowledge and skills to write an essay about purifying polluted water to make clean water for drinking and agriculture.  

G7科学课的同学正在学习从混合物中分离出纯物质,如过滤、蒸发和蒸馏。同学们在课上蒸馏可乐分离出水。前期蒸馏试验内容包括研究、识别信息,解释并引用来源。他们下周将结合自己所学知识和技能写一篇关于用净化污染水提取饮用和农业清洁水的文章。  




G9 Individual and Societies

G9 个人与社会科学课


Recently, G9 Individual and Societies students showcased the findings from their inquiry cycle, which focused on the key concept of change in early civilizations. Their exhibitions were a culmination of weeks of research and analysis, highlighting significant transformations in ancient societies. We were delighted to have G6 students visit the event, as they have been conducting a GRAPES analysis of ancient civilizations in their research and exploring the key concept of change in their PHE classes. This provided a unique opportunity for students to draw connections between content and concepts across different grades and subjects, deepening their understanding of how change shapes both history and their personal lives. 

最近G9个人与社会科学课的同学展出了他们早期文明变革的关键概念为主题的周期调查研究成果。展览是数周研究和分析的高峰体现,展示了古代社会的重大变革。很高兴G6同学也能参与其中,他们在PHE课上对古代文明进行了GRAPES分析,探索了社会变革的关键概念。这样的活动为学生提供了一个让他们在不同年级和学科内容和概念之间建立联系的独特机会,加深了他们对变化如何塑造历史和个人生活的理解。 



G12 Chinese Language Acquisition - Exchanging Information Skills 

G12 中文语言习得课 - 信息交流技能提升


As the saying goes, "Among three people walking, one can always be my teacher." In our G12 Chinese B HL class, students are bringing this ancient wisdom to life through paired speaking exercises. Under the teacher's guidance, they first use mind maps to organize notes on common speaking topics, and then engage in role-play conversations with their learning partners. With shared insights and constructive feedback, the classroom is always alive with laughter and thought-provoking exchanges. Through this collaborative approach, students not only improve their speaking skills but also hone their listening and teamwork abilities, all while preparing for their upcoming oral exams.   

俗话说:“三人行,必有我师。”在我们G12 中文B HL的课堂上,同学们通过双人小组互动练习将这一古老智慧活学活用。大家在老师的引导下先用思维导图梳理常见口语问题、做笔记,再同学习伙伴一起进行实战演练,彼此分享心得体会和建议,课堂上总是充满欢声笑语和思想碰撞。同学们通过这样的互动学习不仅提升口语表达能力,还增强了聆听和团队合作技能,为即将到来的口语考试做好准备。   



G12 Math - Collaborative and Communicative Approach to Learning   

G12 数学课 - 合作和沟通的学习方法 


G12 Math AI and AA and classes have both been hard at work on second-year syllabus material. Ms. Suh, the Grade 12 Math AI HL teacher, leads students in understanding approaches to problems about complex numbers. Mr. Dallal, the Math AA SL teacher, leads a discussion on trigonometry. Both Math courses provide a level of rigor that requires teachers to use a variety of methods and tools to explain and demonstrate advanced concepts.  

G12数学AI和AA课都在努力学习IB第二年的大纲资料。Suh老师带领G12数学AI HL课的同学理解复数问题的方法,Dallal老师在数学AA SL课上引导了一场关于三角学的讨论。两门严谨的数学课程都要求教师使用多种方法和工具演示并解释前沿概念。   



Shenzhen International School Coalition University Fair

深圳国际学校联盟大学博览会 


G10-12 students visited the Shenzhen University Fair, hosted by Harrow Shenzhen, on Tuesday. More than 700 students attended, and they had the chance to speak with representatives from more than 100 universities such as King’s College London, Rutgers University, Baylor University, University of British Columbia, and many more. Attending University fairs and taking advantage of college visits, such as the University of California, Merced, virtual workshop that will happen at SIS on October 30th, are both vitals ways that SIS students can take advantage of the robust university counselling programme we provide. 

周二G10-12的同学参加了在深圳哈罗学校举行的大学博览会。活动现场有超过700名学生参与,他们有机会与来自伦敦国王学院、罗格斯大学、贝勒大学、英属哥伦比亚大学等100多所大学代表进行现场交流。参加大学博览会和大学访校活动(例如10月30日将在SIS举行加州大学默塞德分校线上工作坊),都是SIS学生使用我校提供强有力的大学申请咨询项目的重要方式。

SIS Model United Nations 

SIS 模拟联合国 

SIS hosted our fifth annual student-led SISMUN conference with great success. The student leadership team expanded the size of the conference, hosting over 300 delegates and 9 different schools including schools from Shanghai and Beijing, while maintaining a high quality of debate where all participants could grow their confidence and diplomatic skills. It was a memorable experience for all, with many participants commenting on how much they enjoyed the conference. 

SIS成功举办了第五届由学生主导的SIS模拟联合国年会。学生领导的团队扩大了本届会议规模,活动共接待了来自不同地区(包括北京和上海)的9所学校的300多名学生代表,同时保持了高质量的辩论,所有参与者在活动中都增强了信心和外交技能。本次活动令所有人难忘,大家都在谈论着自己乐在其中。  



A Big Weekend for Sports!  

周末体育比赛大放异彩! 


Geckos were out representing at four different venues this past Saturday. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Volleyball team for finishing 2nd in PRC Red Division while the Boys team won the Sportsmanship award. Our MS Soccer teams battled it out in the heat and showed great spirit throughout their matches. The seasons will end for both sports next week as Volleyball will wrap up with ACAMIS in Hong Kong and Soccer will finish with the SISAC Playoffs. Go Geckos! 

壁虎运动员们上周六分别在四个不同场馆代表学校参赛。我们祝贺高中女子排球联队获得珠锦赛红色赛区第二名,男子队获体育精神奖。我们的初中足球队在酷暑里奋力拼搏,整场比赛中展现出卓越的体育精神。这两项运动赛季将于下周结束,排球赛季将于香港ACAMIS 赛事后结束,足球赛季将在SSAC附加赛后结束。壁虎运动员加油!
