我们如何表达自己——故事

How we express ourselves

Grade 1

It has been a fantastic start to the school year in our Grade 1 English classes!

We've been focusing on phonics, CVC words, and reading short stories to improve decoding skills. Students are practicing communication skills by expressing their understanding of letters and sounds. In grammar lessons, we're using "can" and "can't" to discuss abilities, building confidence in speaking English. The class has completed several group projects, helping the students to become open-minded inquirers and promoting collaboration and teamwork. These activities help the children become balanced learners by combining play and learning to support their understanding of English concepts.

Our focus has been on developing essential foundational skills. We kicked things off by working on letter recognition, identifying both vowels and consonants. This is helping students gain confidence in their reading and writing. At the same time, we’re building solid reading routines, both at school and at home, to make reading a daily habit. In addition, we’ve been talking about our favorite activities, giving students a chance to express themselves while building language skills. It's been a fun and productive few weeks!

Over the past few weeks, the children have enthusiastically embraced our orientation week, focusing on phonics, letter sounds, and blending words. These activities have significantly improved their speaking and listening skills and boosted their confidence. They have begun crafting simple sentences through interactive writing tasks, developing their creativity and fine motor skills.

Our English topic, "We Are All Readers and Writers," encourages critical thinking, communication, and reflection. Students are demonstrating being Inquirers by asking thoughtful questions and showing their Risk-taking spirit by trying new language patterns.

It has been a rewarding start to the year, and we look forward to their continued growth as readers, writers, and communicators!

Grade 2

We've had an exciting start to the year in Grade 2 English! The students began by reviewing CVCE words, colors, animals, body parts, and food to build a strong foundation. In our family and culture theme, we have been comparing families worldwide. Children are learning about different cultures and languages, sharing family trees, and showcasing their open-minded approach as they embrace the diversity within the classroom.

In reading, we focused on realistic fiction with "Maria Celebrates Brazil," enhancing fluency and critical thinking. Phonics lessons covered the "bossy r" sound in ar and explored er, ir, and ur sounds. Students are improving communication skills

by discussing their families and cultures, becoming confident speakers and active listeners. It's been a fantastic start with excellent progress!

Our class has shown outstanding effort and enthusiasm while exploring the fascinating world of classification and life on the farm. The students have worked diligently to understand how living things are grouped and classified, demonstrating their knowledge through engaging activities and hands-on experiences.

From sorting animals and plants to learning about farm life, the students displayed curiosity and a keen eye for detail. Their collaborative spirit shone in every group task, and their ability to ask thoughtful questions enriched our learning environment. Well done, Dragon Class, for your hard work and for making our exploration of the farm so much fun! Keep it up!

We've had an exciting and productive start to the school year! During orientation week, the children enthusiastically reviewed key concepts, practiced phonics, and improved their writing skills, which have already begun to enhance their speaking and listening abilities. Introducing new vocabulary has sparked curiosity and confidence, helping them become more expressive in reading and conversations.

Students have shown their Inquirer and Communicator qualities by asking questions and sharing ideas. Please support their learning by encouraging regular practice on RAZ Reading at home to strengthen comprehension and vocabulary. Let's make this year successful and enriching for your child!

Grade 3

Our class has shown dedication and enthusiasm in exploring communities and culture this term. The students have a strong understanding of how communities function and celebrate the diversity that makes each culture unique. Through engaging discussions, reflections, and projects, they have embraced new perspectives and showcased their collaborative skills.

Their curiosity and commitment to learning are evident in every activity, from sharing personal stories to exploring traditions. The class embodies values of open-mindedness and respect, making their learning journey inspiring and meaningful. Keep up the fantastic work, Diamond Class!

In third grade, we have been delving into an inspiring study of community heroes, starting with César Chávez. Students are learning how Chávez made a difference in his community and reflecting on the impact of such figures in their own lives. In phonics class, we have been focusing on the "bossy R," strengthening our understanding of how this tricky sound changes words.

We are also reinforcing strong reading habits, both at home and in school, to ensure that students continue to develop their skills with consistent practice. It has been a meaningful and engaging start!

Our class has made impressive strides in their learning journey, actively participating in the school's opening ceremony to showcase their enthusiasm and school spirit. The students have been working hard on the new Guangzhou curriculum, demonstrating dedication and hard work in adapting to the new material. They have been practicing a new handwriting style and making good progress. The students are also learning phonics and improving their reading and pronunciation skills.

Amber Class participated in the Mid-Autumn Festival event and won prizes, showcasing their progress in English learning. Future events include an English theme day and a spelling bee competition to test their knowledge.
