(I can’t do this)”转变为“我尚未能做到(I can’t do this yet)”,让他们意识到成功的关键在于努力与坚持。

At LEH Foshan, education goes beyond academics—it is about nurturing the whole student. Our philosophy is rooted in creating a supportive and enriching environment where students can thrive intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Guided by a comprehensive Teaching for Learning Policy, we ensure every classroom fosters growth, inclusivity, and challenge, empowering students to reach their fullest potential.

Our teaching framework is driven by five core objectives:

  • Promoting a Growth Mindset

  • Building Resilience

  • Encouraging Metacognition and Self-Regulation

  • Fostering Collaborative Learning

  • Providing a Holistic Education

In this article, we invite our Headteacher Mrs Arden to share more information. Let’s explore how each of these principles shapes our unique approach to teaching and learning.

Embracing a

Growth Mindset

Central to our educational philosophy is the promotion of a growth mindset. Developed by renowned psychologist Carol Dweck, the concept emphasises that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, perseverance, and the right strategies.

We encourage both teachers and students to see challenges as opportunities, embrace the idea of “not yet” instead of “I can’t,” and view mistakes as part of the learning process. Instead of thinking they’ve failed or can’t achieve something, students are taught to see these moments as opportunities for growth and learning. By shifting their mindset from “I can’t do this” to “I can’t do this yet,” they understand that effort and perseverance are key to success. This approach helps students embrace resilience, build confidence, and stay motivated, knowing that with hard work and the right strategies, they can improve and reach their goals. The “Not Yet” philosophy also fosters a love for learning, as students become more willing to take risks and push beyond their comfort zones, knowing that their abilities are not set in stone.

Building Resilience

for Lifelong Success

At LEH Foshan, resilience is viewed as a critical life skill. We understand that students will face challenges, but we teach them how to adapt, recover, and grow stronger from these experiences. By developing problem-solving skills, coping mechanisms for stress, and stronger interpersonal relationships, students are better prepared not only for academic success but for life beyond school. Our goal is to help them build the inner strength and confidence they need to thrive in any situation.

One tool we use to build resilience is the Study Cycle framework. It helps students build resilience by developing structured, sustainable study habits through five stages: Preview, Attend Class, Review, Study, and Assess. This continuous process ensures students stay actively engaged, independently review their progress, and manage their learning effectively. Through regular reviews and focused sessions, students break down their learning into manageable steps, fostering resilience through consistency and effort, ultimately preparing them to tackle academic challenges and develop lifelong learning skills.

Praising the process rather than the person is important to building resilience in our students. By focusing on the effort, strategies, and persistence they apply, rather than innate abilities like intelligence, we teach students that growth comes from hard work and perseverance. This shift encourages them to embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and understand that failure is not a reflection of their abilities but an opportunity to improve. By reinforcing the value of effort, we help students develop the resilience they need to keep going, even when faced with difficulties.

Metacognition

and Self-Regulation

We place great emphasis on metacognition, or self-awareness. This enables students to become more independent learners who can plan, monitor, and evaluate their own progress.

By teaching students how to set SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—we give them the tools to take ownership of their learning journey. This focus on self-regulation ensures that our students are equipped with the skills to manage their growth both academically and personally.

Collaboration as

a Key to Success

At LEH Foshan, collaboration is integral to student success. By working together on projects and problem-solving tasks, students develop essential communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

Our classrooms are designed to foster this spirit of collaboration, featuring flexible, movable furniture, dedicated group study and activity areas, and subject-specific facilities. This setup encourages interaction and teamwork, preparing students not only for academic collaboration but also for future professional environments where these skills are crucial.

Providing a

Holistic Education

At LEH Foshan, we take a holistic approach to education, focusing on the development of the whole person. Our 8C framework emphasises core values including communication, craftsmanship, and creativity, alongside traditional academic excellence.

Beyond the classroom, students engage in a wide range of extracurricular activities, from arts and sports to leadership roles and community service. This well-rounded education ensures that every student has the opportunity to explore their passions, develop their talents, and grow into confident, capable individuals.
