BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
ISA Science City held its Back-to-School Night and Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration on last Monday to mark the start of the new school year. The annual Back-to-School Night is a meaningful ceremony that marks the beginning of the new school year. Its purpose is to strengthen the bonds between all members of our community and promote communication between the home and school.
为了纪念新学年的美好启程,加深师生及家长间的情感纽带,并共襄中秋佳节之喜庆,爱莎科学城学校精心筹备,于上周盛情举办了“返校之夜融合中秋庆典”活动。一年一度的“返校之夜”是标志新学年开始的一个重要仪式,也是加强所有校园社区成员联系、促进家庭与学校团队之间交流的时刻。
This year's Back-to-School Night featured our sharing of the ISASC Curriculum. Parents and students spent the first half of the event meeting with teachers in their respective sub-schools to hear presentations about teaching and learning and learn more about their children's curriculum and life at the school.
今年,返校之夜更是增加了令人期待的“家校课程互动-家长课堂”环节,在活动的前半部分,家长与学生在各自学部与教师面对面交流,聆听与学校教学相关的介绍,以此更深入地了解孩子在学校的课程与校园生活。
The Early Years Parent College emphasised that learning English early in kindergarten is a balance of teaching knowledge and natural exposure to the language in a playful and enjoyable atmosphere. Students experience formal lessons to develop basic language skills and phonemic awareness, complemented by play-based tasks that encourage student-to-student and student-to-adult interactions in English. Combined, these methods promote confidence, paving the way for them to learn English in a fun, fulfilling, and natural manner.
幼儿园的家长课堂强调在幼儿园初期阶段,英语学习不仅仅是知识的灌输,更是通过游戏化的方式,让孩子们在轻松愉快的氛围中自然接触语言,有效激发孩子们的语言学习兴趣,从而促进语言学习,并锻炼孩子们的社交能力、反应速度和团队合作精神,同时注重培养学生基础语言技能和音位认知能力,为他们的英语学习之路铺设一条充满乐趣与成就感的道路。
The Primary School Parent College covered all aspects of children's learning and development needs in Chinese, Mathematics, English, Art and PE. Chinese language focus language acquisition, literacy and understanding of local and national culture, which is foundational for students to understand their place in the world; English focuses on literacy and the science of reading so students have a strong foundation on which to build; Mathematics shared how they use the advanced Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) method, which enhances students' mathematical thinking through a step-by-step transition from manipulating and illustrating concrete objects to understanding abstract concepts; Art is focussing on developing creativity and self-confidence while physical education is developing fitness and creating resilience to complete challenging activities. In addition, the Camps in October will provide new challenges that will push our children to grow in ATL skills such as communication, collaboration and problem-solving.
小学的家长课堂精心策划,旨在全方位覆盖孩子们在小学阶段的学习与发展需求,涵盖了体育、艺术、数学、科学及中文等多个关键教育领域。中文教学传承中华文化等;数学教学引入了先进的Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA)教学法,通过具体实物操作、图示辅助到抽象概念理解的逐步过渡,有效提升学生的数学思维能力和问题解决能力;阅读科学(英语)告诉我们学生如何高效地学习阅读,培养学生坚实的读写能力基础;在体育方面,课程不仅注重孩子们身体素质的提升,更强调通过体育活动锻炼他们的意志品质;艺术课堂注重激发学生内在的创造力和自信心。此外,十月的户外营地拓展也将全面提升孩子的综合素质。
The Secondary Parent College introduced how students will proceed through our IB curriculum, emphasising a value-laden environment that promotes character and pioneers for the future. Using the four ISASC pillars and the house system structure, we create opportunities that encourage growth, resilience, and leadership. We have developed several leadership roles that are taking on a more prominent voice in identifying how the school can work better with our students.
中学课堂介绍了IB国际文凭教育的历史脉络,以及爱莎科学城学校的四大支柱理念与对应的四大学院制度架构,同时强调了我们如何营造一个安全、促进学习的环境,旨在促进学生成长、增强韧性,培养他们成为未来的领军者与开拓者。
In terms of our curriculum pathway, the leaders shared the student learning journey from Grade 6 onwards: new students in G6 enjoy a unique set-up to support the transition from Primary School with a smaller dedicated teaching team; G7 and G8 are enriched with a broader range of curriculum choices so they can begin to discern their talents; G9 and G10 allow for more subject selection with a focus on increasing depth of knowledge, skills and understanding that is complemented by rigorous assessment; and finally in the final two years, taking IBDP courses to support students to gain entry to the world's top universities. In addition, parents were given an in-depth understanding of the school's boarding system, home-school communication, and English language support strategies that comprehensively cover and support learning.
具体教学方法上,自六年级始,逐年升级挑战:六年级新生享受个性化课程规划;7-8年级课程选择更加丰富;9-10年级则聚焦于精简而深入的学科教育,辅以严谨的评估;最后两年IBDP阶段全力冲刺,助力学生进入世界顶尖学府。此外,家长还深入了解了学校的寄宿服务、家校沟通机制、英语语言辅助策略等关键环节,全面覆盖了学生的学习与校园生活,家长们收获颇丰。
After the Curriculum sharing, all the teachers, students and parents gathered in the atrium to enjoy a wonderful mid-autumn celebration. Our student bands performed while everyone ate together and shared stories. The warmth and joy of each other's company created a beautiful scene full of smiles and laughter.
随着课程介绍的圆满落幕,全体师生及家长汇聚于璀璨夺目的中庭广场,共同沉浸在学生乐队精心演绎的视听盛宴之中。旋律悠扬,节奏激昂,每一音符都跳跃着青春的活力与才华的光芒。在这片欢聚的海洋里,节日特供的美食香气四溢,诱人味蕾,大家边品尝佳肴,边畅谈笑语,彼此间的温情与欢乐在空气中交织成最美的风景线。
The event reached its finale with a collective performance where everyone was caught up in an irresistible wave of energy to dance together. There was so much joy; everyone felt part of a very special community.
随后,一股不可抗拒的活力浪潮席卷而来,众人纷纷起身,加入到一场洋溢着无限欢乐的集体舞蹈之中。舞步轻盈,笑声朗朗,每一个人都仿佛被这份纯粹的快乐所感染,忘却了日常的烦恼,只愿沉浸在这份难得的欢聚时光里。
