法拉古特人物群像l 成长与发现,都是法拉古特的青春印记

在过往的人物志内容中,我们分享了很多2024届优秀毕业生的故事,却甚少分享一个群体的故事。个体常因被保护的很好被提及,那么,故事的主角,如果是班级呢?

In the past character stories, we have shared many stories of outstanding graduates from the class of 2024, but seldom the stories of a group. Individuals are often mentioned because they are well protected, so what if the protagonist of the story is the class itself?


在法拉古特,学校的班级不大,班级成员不多,班主任和同学们之间的真实关系到底是什么样,班主任又如何真实地评价他们的学生呢...

At Farragut School, the classes are not large, and there are not many members in each class. What is the true relationship between the head teacher and the students, and how does the head teacher evaluate their students?


带着这些疑问,三位在北美方向班加拿大方向的男孩子吸引了我们的目光。在班主任谢老师的眼中,他们个性迥异,是班里最“调皮”的孩子,但他们又有着同样的优点:为了心中的梦想,付出全部努力,并实现梦想。

缘起OSSD项目

Originating from the OSSD Project


因为对不同留学目的国的期待和向往,Eason和Ivan很早就进入法拉古特学习。作为曾经是美国方向班的同学,选择转入加拿大OSSD项目的目标也很一致:想要去加拿大最优秀的大学。

Because of the anticipation and yearning for different study abroad destinations, Eason and Ivan entered Farragut School early. As classmates who were once in the American program, their goal of transferring to the Canadian OSSD project is also very consistent: they want to go to the best universities in Canada.


Eason 的梦校是UBC生物工程专业,Ivan则对位于多伦多市中心的都会大学传媒专业颇为心仪。

Eason's dream school is the UBC Biomedical Engineering program, while Ivan is quite fond of the Media Studies program at the Metropolitan University located in downtown Toronto.


毫无疑问,在申请北美方向特别是加拿大方向上,极具优势的OSSD课程体系,让他们能更好的实现自己的梦想。

Undoubtedly, the OSSD curriculum system, which has a particular advantage in applying for the North American direction, especially the Canadian direction, can better help them achieve their dreams.


Chuck有在普通高中求学的经历。尽管彼时的自己“还跟得上”,但想要在通过独木桥进入国内一所顶尖大学,并不是简单的事儿。反观OSSD项目,可以让他即使在12年级入学,也可直接进入英联邦国家申请赛道,更容易申请到澳大利亚顶尖大学,与他在那里生活的家人汇合。

Chuck has the experience of studying in a regular high school. Although he could "keep up" at that time, it is not a simple thing to enter a top university in the country through the narrow bridge.On the contrary, the OSSD project allows him to enter the application track of the Commonwealth countries directly even if he enters in the 12th grade, making it easier to apply for top universities in Australia and reunite with his family living there.

The gears of fate began to turn, and the three students entered the Canadian program of the North American direction, having the same teachers, for different goals.

法拉古特北美方向班加拿大方向针对以加拿大为主要留学目的国的学子,与加拿大枫叶学校合办遵循安大略省教学体系的北美方向班加拿大方向课程。

The Canadian direction of the North American program at Farragut School, targeting students who regard Canada as the main destination for study abroad, is jointly organized with the Maple Leaf School in Canada, following the teaching system of Ontario's North American program.


入校即注册加拿大安大略省学籍,课程全程受到安大略省教育厅的监管,确保课程靠拢加拿大教育模式。独特的“非应试化”课程体系、70%平时成绩+30%期末考试成绩的考量方式,为孩子提供了舒适且公平的学习环境。

Upon entering the school, students are registered in the Ontario, Canada, student status, and the entire course is supervised by the Ontario Ministry of Education to ensure that the curriculum aligns with the Canadian education model.The unique "non-exam-oriented" curriculum system, with a consideration of 70% based on regular performance plus 30% based on final exam results, provides a comfortable and fair learning environment for students.


在采访中,三个人不约而同的提到了一个人:谢冰蔚老师。她不仅是大家的生物老师,更是12年级的班主任。在这或长或短相处的三年中,谢老师又对他们有哪些印象呢?

In the interview, all three mentioned a person: Teacher Xie Bingwei. She is not only everyone's biology teacher but also the head teacher of the 12th grade.


“Eason: 生物作为一门需要不断深造的学科,选择它的确需要很大的勇气”。

"Eason: Biology, as a subject that requires continuous in-depth study, indeed requires a lot of courage to choose."


Eason同学心中一直有一个UBC的梦想,为了这个梦想他转到OSSD项目。三年的积累,他收获了自己的梦中情校,真心祝贺他。

Eason has always had a dream of UBC in his heart, and for this dream, he transferred to the OSSD project. After three years of accumulation, he has gained his dream school, and we sincerely congratulate him.


在日常学习生活中,他对生物学科有很浓厚的兴趣,不仅看很多中英生物学科课外书,还观摩和自学如何做生物实验:动手实践过小动物解剖实验,在医科大学观摩过小鼠实验,就连毕业旅行,也想要去搜集蓝眼泪海水样本,他在这些活动中表现出来的兴趣和兴奋,让身边的人深受感染。

In his daily study and life, he has a strong interest in biology, not only reading many Chinese and English extracurricular books on biology but also observing and self-learning how to do biological experiments: self-studying to perform animal disdiv experiments, observing mouse experiments at medical universities, and even on graduation trips, he wanted to collect blue tear seawater samples. His interest and excitement in these activities have deeply infected the people around him.


面对生物学科学习的相关作业,他积累深厚的词汇基础,总能高质量完成,同时提出很多自己的见解,这让他能得到很高的分数。尽管在每一次选科时,外界的一些声音总会让他稍显迷失,但最后,他还是坚持自己学习生物的梦想。

Facing the relevant homework of biological science learning, he has accumulated a profound vocabulary foundation and can always complete it with high quality, while also putting forward many of his own opinions, which allows him to get high scores. For example, every time he chooses a subject, too many external voices will always make him a bit lost, but until the end, he has listened to the most authentic voice in his heart and persisted in the dream of studying biology.

“Ivan: A young man who loves music, football, and cycling has realized his dream of media.”


三年时间,见证了Ivan的成长和转变。为了实现梦想,他尝试组乐队,学习了吉他和贝斯,为了像偶像一样做一个很酷的人,他敢于试错,努力的寻找着自己的方向。

Three years have witnessed Ivan's growth and transformation. To realize his dream, he tried to form a band, learned guitar and bass, and to be a cool person like his favorite idol, he dared to make mistakes and worked hard to find his own direction.

他充分了解所选学校和专业的要求,努力提高自己的成绩;在11年级的结尾顺利的把雅思考到了6.5,达到了申请大学的条件。

He fully understands the requirements of the chosen school and major, strives to improve his grades; at the end of the 11th grade, he successfully achieved an IELTS score of 6.5, meeting the conditions for applying to university.


在高中的最后一年,我看到了他的成长:热爱班集体,在班级中有号召力,热心参与班级事务,勇敢提出想法;他参与学校的各种文艺活动,看到他在台上演唱喜爱歌曲时眼里闪烁的光芒,有种邻家少年初长成的感慨。

In the last year of high school, I saw his growth: he loves the class community, has appeal in the class, is enthusiastic about participating in class affairs, and bravely puts forward ideas; he participated in various cultural and artistic activities in the school, and seeing the sparkle in his eyes when he sang his favorite songs on stage, there was a feeling that the neighbor's boy has grown up.


“Chuck : 什么时候开始,都不算晚”

“Chuck: It's never too late to start.”

因为想去澳洲留学,Chuck直到高三才从普高学校转入OSSD。OSSD的课程设置可以让学生转化之前的学分,顺利承接所学课程,集中优势申请商科专业。

Because he wanted to study in Australia, Chuck didn't transfer to OSSD from a regular high school until his senior year. The OSSD curriculum allows students to transfer previous credits, smoothly continue the courses they have learned, and focus on applying for business majors.


进入OSSD之后,Chuck戏称“连电脑都不太会用”,对新的学习方式:比如写论文和制作PPT都遇到过一些困难。老师和同学们知道后,纷纷出手帮助他。

After entering OSSD, Chuck jokingly said, "I can hardly use a computer," and he encountered some difficulties with new learning methods, such as writing papers and making PowerPoint presentations.After the teachers and classmates knew, they all lent a helping hand.


在他们的帮助下,他不仅很快的融入到集体中,更可以学有余力的准备雅思考试。

With their help, he not only quickly integrated into the group but also had the additional time to prepare for the IELTS exam.


为了心中的目标,他提前了解学校对课程的申请要求,精益求精的完成每一项的学习任务,对学习中遇到的问题能与老师保持持续的沟通和解决,争取更高的平均成绩。

In order to achieve his goal, he understood the school's application requirements for the courses in advance, and completed every learning task with excellence, maintaining continuous communication and resolution with the teachers for problems encountered in learning, striving for a higher average score.


12年级的课程内容与大一课程内容70%重合,经过一年的学习,他在以后的学习上会更顺利。看到他申请到理想的大学,真心为他感到高兴,所有的经历、所有的努力都是值得的,梦想已经发了芽,愿继续开出花,灿烂盛夏。

Seventy percent of the content of the 12th-grade curriculum overlaps with that of the first-year college curriculum.Seeing him apply to his ideal university, I am sincerely happy for him. All the experiences and efforts are worth it. The dream has sprouted, and may it continue to bloom and shine in the midsummer.



最后,作为北美方向班加拿大项目的班主任,我想说:在法拉古特,教师非常倡导学生关注自我,坚持梦想。这样的氛围使得学生有一定的空间去探索自身发展,找到适合自己的道路。我们愿意严慈相济,尊重学生表达想法,引导学生积极成长。

Finally, as the head teacher of the Canadian project of the North American direction class, I want to say: we all advocate that students pay attention to themselves and adhere to their dreams. Such an atmosphere gives students a certain space to explore their own development and find their own path. “把西方音乐和中国古典音乐,联系起来

"Connecting Western music with Chinese classical music"


为了能给大学展示更加全面的自己,Eason从高一起,就以单簧管的特长进入了校管弦乐团。高二,他在学校和学长的鼓励下,创建了法拉古特民乐团,用他自己的话来说“我更想把西方音乐与中国古典音乐联系起来”。

In order to show a more comprehensive side of himself to the university, Eason entered the school orchestra with his specialty in the clarinet from his freshman year. In his sophomore year, encouraged by the school and senior students, he created the Farragut Chinese Orchestra, in his own words, "I want to connect Western music with Chinese classical music even more."


在法拉古特这样一个有着中西方文化融合的校园社区,他真的创建了一支与众不同的、中西合璧的校民乐团:在他的团队里,有葫芦丝、古筝、二胡、扬琴、竹笛、古琴、更有贝斯和大提琴。

In a campus community like Farragut, which integrates Chinese and Western cultures, he really created a unique, Chinese-Western combined school folk orchestra: in his team, there are Hulusi, Guzheng, Erhu, Yangqin, Bamboo Flute, Guqin, and even Bass and Cello.

乐团中的成员擅长的并不仅仅是中国传统民族乐器,还融合了很多西方乐器。民乐团在音乐会、嘉宾访校等大大小小的重要场合,为学校创造了非常正面和积极的影响。

The members of the orchestra are not only good at Chinese traditional folk instruments but also integrate many Western instruments. The folk orchestra has created a very positive and significant impact on the school at concerts, guest visits, and other important events.


“TOP GEAR,让我对传媒有了不一样的认识”

“TOP GEAR, gave me a different understanding of media”


Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond和James May,是Ivan最喜欢的三位节目主持人。从他们仨的节目:《TOP GEAR》到后来的节目:《THE GRAND TOUR》,仨人的主持风格,节目形式都在全球产生巨大影响力,也深深影响了Ivan,是他下定决心在大学阶段学习传媒的重要原因之一。

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are Ivan's favorite hosts. From their "TOP GEAR" to the later "THE GRAND TOUR," their hosting style and program format have had a huge global impact, and it is also one of the most important reasons for Ivan to decide to study media at the university stage.


在校内,他同样有一个属于自己的乐团,并对音乐尤其是摇滚乐有着浓厚的兴趣。在高中时期,他开始学习贝斯并组建校乐队,参与很多有意义的活动,比如为孤独症儿童表演,参与慈善活动等。这些经历不仅丰富了他的生活,更让他结识许多朋友。

In the school, he also has his own band. He has a strong interest in music, especially rock music. During high school, he started learning bass and formed a school band, participating in many meaningful activities, such as performing for children with autism and participating in charity activities. These experiences not only enriched his life but also allowed him to make many friends.

因为12年级才转入法拉古特,Chuck曾经最担心的就是语言和难以融入集体的问题。但幸运的是,通过篮球这项爱好,他很快和同学们打成了一片。在校运动会上,他更有机会和同学们一起,代表班级,争夺荣誉。

Having transferred to Farragut School in his 12th grade, Chuck used to be most concerned about language barriers and fitting into the community. Fortunately, through his love for basketball, he quickly bonded with his classmates. At the school sports day, he had the opportunity to compete with his classmates for the honor of their class.


选择正确的,就是最好的

Choosing the right path is the best choice

面对申请季,所有的人都在心里默默地加把油,不仅在学习成绩上持续精进,更想获得梦校的那张珍贵的录取通知书。

Facing the application season, everyone silently cheers up in their hearts, striving not only to continuously improve academically but also to obtain the precious admission letter from their dream school.


Eason 选择申请UBC英属哥伦比亚大学,这源自家庭背景和个人对生命科学的好奇,更是延续了对生物这门学科的兴趣使然。谈到收获UBC录取,他说“这是人生中最重要的高光时刻之一”,期待在那里深入学习生物,实现职业梦想。

Eason chose to enter UBC, the University of British Columbia, driven by his family background and personal curiosity about life sciences, which also continues his interest in the subject of biology. Speaking of receiving the UBC admission, he said, "This is one of the most important highlights of life," looking forward to delving into the study of biology there and achieving his career dreams.


Ivan最终选择了多伦多都会大学,一方面是因为其媒体专业非常出色;另一方面是因为他对大城市和生活在都市里有着浓厚兴趣。坐落于多伦多市中心的多伦多都会大学正满足了这两点追求。

Ivan ultimately chose to attend Toronto Metropolitan University, partly because of its outstanding media program, and partly because of his strong interest in big cities and urban living. Toronto Metropolitan University, located in downtown Toronto, perfectly meets these two desires.


在多伦多这个充满活力的城市,他相信会为学习提供无限的可能性。为此。他甚至放弃了多伦多大学、麦克马斯特大学等知名大学的录取。

In the vibrant city of Toronto, he believes it offers unlimited possibilities for learning. For this reason, he even gave up admission to well-known universities such as the University of Toronto and McMaster University.


而Chuck,一封期待已久的莫纳什大学录取信在手,更是期待更多澳洲大学发来的录取好消息。

And for Chuck, holding a long-awaited admission letter from Monash University, he is eagerly awaiting more admission news from Australian universities.


三个不同个性、追求不同的男孩子,是法拉古特这所学校的小小缩影;相同的是,他们在这样一个温暖的集体中,在追求不同梦想并实现的过程中,都完成了自我超越和完善。

Three boys with different personalities and pursuits are a small reflection of the Canadian direction of the North American program at Farragut School; what is the same is that in such a warm community, in the process of pursuing and realizing different dreams, they have undoubtedly all achieved self-transcendence and perfection.
